02 Mar Beware the “Family Meeting”
“We had a family meeting and it was terrible!”. Convening a family meeting sounds reasonable, right? But poorly planned and executed family meetings can make a bad situation worse, even when a professional brought them together with the best of intentions. It can also violate the family advisor’s first canon of practice to “do no harm” by actually making things worse; “No one wants to get together a second time”. Family meetings can be deceptively difficult. Exercise caution when putting them together and find a professional who knows what they’re doing.
